About The Position

Warfel Construction Company is seeking a Traveling Project Manager (PM) to join our growing team. The Travel PM leads geographically remote projects with a strong focus on client satisfaction, schedule and budget performance, and repeat business. This role oversees project planning, coordination, communication, and execution while traveling to job sites three or more hours from home—often for extended periods—demonstrating adaptability, organization, and leadership to deliver successful outcomes for clients and project teams.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of a four-year college degree majoring in construction management, engineering, architecture or similar program or similar related career experience.
  • 8+ years of experience on construction projects similar to those of Warfel Construction.
  • Experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar. Experience to include client relationship management, budget and schedule management, and team management/leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Travel frequently to oversee construction projects in geographically remote locations, adapting to regional regulations, labor markets, and local authorities/inspectors/utility providers.
  • Lead and manage project teams across dispersed job sites using a balance of on-site leadership and remote coordination.
  • Serve as Warfel’s primary on-site representative, building strong client relationships and promoting the Clients for Life mission.
  • Plan and execute project start-up activities including contract review, scheduling, logistics planning, buyout, and team kick-off.
  • Manage financial performance on large-scale projects (up to $50M+), including cost projections, earned value, labor analysis, and margin accountability.
  • Oversee procurement, subcontract administration, and change order processes while mitigating risk through proactive planning and SRMP practices.
  • Ensure quality control, documentation, and compliance with company standards, including schedule updates, daily log review, and issue resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with owners, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decisions.
  • Direct project execution through closeout, including RFIs, submittals, pay applications, meetings, and final documentation.
  • Mentor and develop project team members, manage multiple projects concurrently, and ensure adherence to Warfel standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
