The Project Manager position manages and oversees Fire Station Alerting System projects from award through final acceptance and operational cutover. The Project Manager is fully accountable for delivery — including field execution, subcontractor coordination, installation oversight, testing, training, and customer acceptance. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with scope, while maintaining a high standard of quality and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong field leadership and disciplined control of installers, subcontractors, and on-site activities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing complex technical projects with significant field execution components.
  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and installation teams in the field.
  • A four-year business or technical degree is preferred. PMP certification is beneficial but not required; structured project management discipline is expected.
  • Working knowledge of software deployment, system integration, and networking is desirable.
  • Experience working with municipal, government, or public safety customers is preferred. Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct field personnel and hold teams accountable.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of MS Project, CRM systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Travel is required for this position, typically one to three weeks per project depending on scope and installation schedule.
  • This position requires a FBI criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary customer interface for all phases of project implementation and execution.
  • Provide full lifecycle ownership of assigned projects including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management, and final acceptance.
  • Lead projects through installation, testing, training, and operational cutover with clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Ensure customer expectations are proactively managed throughout the project.
  • Coordinates with Systems Engineering, Software Development, QA, Production, and Customer Support to ensure readiness for deployment.
  • Aligns production, configuration, staging, and shipment schedules with field installation timelines.
  • Drives integration activities including external systems, network interfaces, and third-party components.
  • Ensures QA and system verification testing are completed and documented prior to field deployment.
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Track progress, milestones, dependencies, and financial performance using CRM or project management tools.
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external progress reports.
  • Lead internal and customer meetings focused on execution, issue resolution, and accountability.
  • Lead and control all on-site installation activities, whether performed by internal teams or subcontractors.
  • Develop detailed installation plans, schedules, and sequencing with clear accountability.
  • Direct and manage subcontractors and installers in the field, ensuring adherence to scope, drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with General Contractors and other trades to protect the project schedule and avoid rework.
  • Identify and resolve field issues quickly to prevent schedule or cost impact.
  • Enforce documentation standards, punch list closure, and quality verification prior to customer acceptance.
  • Escalate field risks early and implement corrective action plans.
  • Draft scopes of work and define clear deliverables for subcontractors.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and quality.
  • Validate field completion prior to approving invoices.
  • Manage change orders and ensure scope adjustments are documented and approved prior to execution.
