About The Position

Plan, direct, or coordinate activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. Assist the superintendent in the implementation of DPR policies and execution of the construction project. Understand and enforce construction contracts, including between DPR and subcontractors as well as DPR and the owner. Organize the duties of other engineers, field office coordinator, project accountant and other assigned construction project staff. This includes providing direction, prioritization, and performance feedback. Organize and electronically archive construction project files for easy access by the project team. Prepare, monitor, and update construction project schedules. Work with the superintendent to reduce project constraints’ impact on the schedule. Prepare, maintain, and implement various construction document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs. Distribute new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other construction project information to all affected parties. Identify, assemble, negotiate, and distribute change orders to owner and subcontractors. Participate in construction project cost control. This includes maintaining internal records and working with subcontractors to make sure changes are getting paid. Prepare owner billing by assembling DPR costs, receiving and reviewing subcontractor invoices and organizing the documents in accordance with the owner’s requirements. Monitor testing and inspection record and reports, safety inspection and accident logs and reports, record building permit inspections and signoffs. Participate and apply DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan to constantly maintain injury-free environments including performing weekly safety audits at construction sites. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a commercial construction/engineering-related occupation.
  • Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
  • Position requires at least 2 years of experience in each of the following skills: Collaborate with modeling teams, trade partners and owner-furnished equipment vendors to model different components (electrical, HVAC, fire protection, structural members, etc.) of the building, and identify and resolve clashes by utilizing Navisworks modeling software.
  • Manage the budget of the assigned scopes (MEP, structural, or architectural) by interpreting and analyzing the total cost reports, reviewing and approving change orders in CMiC (cost management tool).
  • Collaborate with the site scheduler and superintendents to manage the project schedule in Primavera P6 by reporting updates to submittal approval, procurement, and delays resulting from weather impacts, design-driven or construction-driven changes.
  • Review and approve monthly pay applications of the trade partners in Textura, ensuring that their bills are per the material procured and work performed that month.
  • Create and manage logs for procurement, submittals (shop drawings, product data, delegated design calculations, etc.), and change orders.
  • Maintain all project-related documentation in a project management tool such as Procore or ACC Build.
  • Perform punch walks with the design team, document issues in BIM 360 Field, Procore, or ACC Build, and resolve those issues by coordinating with the trade partners and design team.
  • Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of the project in collaboration with the field and quality control team.
  • Resolve conflicts effectively in a fair manner using diplomacy with trade partners and client relationships in good standing.
  • Manage final project closeout by delivering warranties, as-builts, owner training, equipment manuals and a list of punch items to the owner.
  • Work with the cost team to issue full and final change orders to the trade partners.
  • Review product data, shop drawing, and engineering submittals provided by trade partners for compliance with construction documents such as drawings and specifications.
  • Field verify materials delivered to the project and methods of installation comply with contract documents and approved submittals.
