About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. This position is for the new Medical Facility, located on the grounds of Blackburn Correctional Complex. Requirements

  • EDUCATION: High School Graduate
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in the inventory, control, sales or disposal, or acquisition of property, or a related field.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience up to two years.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, organization skills, and technology skills.
  • Ability to complete work-related activities professionally.
  • Ability to multitask with the ability to plan, pay attention to detail, think critically, and analyze data to forecast positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the Department, facility, and Division.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises property officers in performing inventory management responsibilities for a state agency.
  • Assigns and reviews the duties and work of employees.
  • Plans the property inventory program for a state agency.
  • Administers the acquisition, transfer, sale or disposal of property.
  • Implements computerized property control system.
  • Recommends and implements property program changes.
  • Ensures that all state laws, rules, and regulations regarding property inventory and control are followed.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records of an agency’s property control and inventory system.
  • Supervises the warehousing of surplus property; receives and secures surplus property.
  • Supervises the stores operation in a correctional or mental health institution.
  • Provides technical assistance to agency personnel and staff.
