Requirements

  • 5–7 years of professional experience in federal proposal writing, technical proposals, or solution storytelling
  • Experience writing sections of RFIs and RFPs in a federal contracting environment
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Technical Writing, or similar

Nice To Haves

  • APMP Foundation certification or similar proposal training
  • Familiarity with Shipley-style proposal processes
  • Experience supporting IT modernization, systems integration, or software development proposal

Responsibilities

  • Writing sections of federal RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs (technical and management volumes)
  • Interviewing subject matter experts and translating their input into evaluator-friendly narratives
  • Developing executive summaries, win themes, and solution explanations
  • Turning IT concepts — software development, systems integration, cloud, data, cybersecurity, AI/ML — into clear business value and mission outcomes
  • Editing and improving drafts for clarity, compliance, and plain language
  • Formatting and polishing content in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint so it’s clean, readable, and professional
  • Supporting proposal schedules, reviews (Pink / Red / Gold), and section compliance
  • Helping ensure proposals tell a consistent, logical “solution story”
  • Occasionally developing growth materials like capabilities decks, case studies, or white papers
