About The Position

Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries. At Hermeus, we are constantly iterating and integrating. We test early and often to minimize technical and program risk. We build the test campaigns that support our full range of test programs spanning development, operational and certification testing. As a Propulsion Test Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working with high-performance propulsion systems, supporting engine and system-level testing. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to set up test campaigns, monitor data, and troubleshoot issues, directly contributing to Hermeus’ hypersonic development efforts. Hermeus is seeking talented students to join our Propulsion Test team in Jacksonville for the Spring & Summer 2026 semesters. Fall: Around 16 weeks (September - December)

Requirements

  • Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).
  • Strong interest in propulsion systems and testing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to assist in designing, setting up, and operating test stands, learning the fundamentals of propulsion system testing.
  • Help instrument test setups, monitor test conditions, and analyze performance data to contribute to system improvements and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Partner with engineers and technicians to refine test processes, enhance safety procedures, and develop a deeper understanding of propulsion systems in a real-world testing environment.
