About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking multiple Propulsion System Integration Engineers (Associate or Mid-Level) to join our Propulsion 787 Program Engineering team in North Charleston, South Carolina. We are building a new engineering team focused on main engine integration, APU, and fuels systems, directly supporting 787 production and deliveries. These roles are focused on system integration of the engine, APU, fuel system, performing installation analysis and certification deliverables, and providing hands on factory/delivery support. You’ll work across disciplines and with suppliers to keep 787 deliveries on schedule, resolve complex integration problems, meet customer commitments, and advance the safety, quality, and continued airworthiness of our products. You’ll work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, agile environment using modern tools and practices, with strong opportunities for technical development and potential for leadership growth. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 2+ years of experience working in an engineering discipline application

Nice To Haves

  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years specifically in propulsion engineering or engine/APU and fuel system integration
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex cross-domain problems (structures, systems, certification) and produce implementable solutions
  • Experience with configuration management and requirements artifacts (ENOVIA, CSDT, REDARS, ETAC, IVX/IVT, CATIA or similar tools)
  • Experience with supplier oversight, supplier drawing reviews, and managing supplier-initiated design modifications
  • Experience planning and executing qualification testing and developing test procedures/reports
  • Knowledge of RCCA/BPSM, fault trees, cause-mapping, and safety analyses
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey complex technical issues to multiple audiences

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed propulsion system, engine, APU, and fuel system integration and installation analyses to ensure safe, maintainable, and certifiable installations across airframe and propulsion interfaces (pylon, mount, nacelle, ducts, fuel/oil/hydraulic system, electrical, and control & indication systems).
  • Produce, review, and maintain engineering deliverables that preserve the certification basis and continued airworthiness of our aircraft.
  • Support qualification and demonstration testing (structural, thermal, vibration, endurance, fuel-system functional and leak testing); analyze test data and develop timely technical dispositions.
  • Troubleshoot production-line and delivery issues on-site in Charleston: support production holds, pre-delivery inspections, and delivery acceptance.
  • Investigate and resolve fleet/production/supplier issues (Service Requests, Non‑Conformances, Change Notices, etc.) to maintain flow and schedules.
  • Maintain and update configuration and requirements artifacts (specs, installation requirements, control documents).
  • Support safety and airworthiness activities: update system safety analyses, installation limitations, and airworthiness requirements related to propulsion and fuel systems as needed.
  • Operate under lead level supervision, work in a team/collaborative environment, and independently drive technical workflows to completion.
