About The Position

Agile Space Industries is a rapidly growing supplier of propulsion hardware and engineering services for the space industry. Headquartered in Durango, Colorado, with expanding operations in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, Agile has achieved more than 40% year-over-year growth for the past three years, and our momentum continues to accelerate. At Agile, we design, build, and test in-space propulsion systems that give spacecraft the ability to maneuver with precision, reliability, and purpose. Our technologies play a critical role in missions that range from lunar landings and resource utilization to national defense, human exploration, and commercial space transport. We are seeking bold and driven individuals who thrive in a hands-on, fast-moving environment and want to help write the next chapter of space history as part of a close-knit, innovative team. Agile Space Industries is seeking a Propulsion Test Engineer I/II to support propulsion system testing at our Durango, Colorado test facility. This role is highly hands-on and involves working directly with propulsion hardware, test stands, instrumentation, and fluid systems. Test engineers collaborate closely with technicians and propulsion design engineers to prepare test stands, execute test campaigns, troubleshoot hardware, and analyze results. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with hardware and thrives in fast-paced engineering environments where safety, technical rigor, and teamwork are critical. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on hardware testing and facility operations — not a desk-based analysis or software QA position. This position requires comfort working outdoors year-round in a propulsion testing environment that includes extreme temperatures, hazardous systems, and physically demanding work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on engineering environment involving mechanical hardware and fluid systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and non-standard schedules during test campaigns.
  • Must be able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and safely operate in hazardous test environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support preparation and execution of propulsion system tests including test stand configuration, hardware installation, and pre-test checkouts.
  • Assist in development and execution of test procedures, test plans, and operational documentation.
  • Operate propulsion test stands and supporting fluid systems during test campaigns.
  • Collect and analyze test data using instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Support troubleshooting of test anomalies and participate in root cause investigations.
  • Work closely with propulsion engineers, technicians, and program managers to achieve test objectives.
  • Assist with installation, integration, and verification of propulsion hardware and ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Support configuration and operation of instrumentation including pressure, temperature, and flow measurement systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of test activities, procedures, and results.
  • Support safe operation of propulsion systems including adherence to safety protocols and use of required PPE and SCBA.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test operations and facility capabilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Agile Space Industries offers exceptional benefits to support you and your family including generous health coverage, dental and vision plans, Flexible Time Off, parental leave, and a 401(k) with 100% company match up to 4%.
