About The Position

The UO Department of Human Physiology is home to undergraduate and graduate students who desire strong training in human physiology and anatomy that will prepare them for careers in medicine, allied health professions, and biomedical research. The Department of Human Physiology invites applications for potential research assistant, research associate, and postdoctoral scholar positions. Positions will be determined as needs arise to conduct research within different research groups. These positions are funding-contingent and temporary in nature, potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Postdoctoral Scholar appointees will conduct research under the direction of a faculty member for the purpose of acquiring research training.

Requirements

To qualify for the rank of Research Assistant (Type B): Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Physiology, Biology, Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
Experience in a research laboratory.
To qualify for the rank of Research Assistant (Type C): Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Physiology, Biology, Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
Experience in a research laboratory.
To qualify for the rank of Research Associate: Terminal degree in Bioengineering, Physiology, Biology, Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
Experience in a research laboratory.
To qualify for the rank of Postdoctoral Scholar: Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Physiology, Biology, Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field by start of position, with directly relevant research experience to the Primary Investigator’s area of research.
Ability to prioritize work demands, and coordinate research protocols with staff and students.
Excellent organizational skills and careful attention to details.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work both independently, in a small group setting, and one-on-one with students, other staff, and collaborators in a positive and productive manner.
Ability to work efficiently and skillfully with a variety of diverse groups of staff and collaborators.
High level of motivation and integrity.

Nice To Haves

Proficient in neurophysiology and/or biomechanical assessments.
Peer-reviewed publications in neurophysiology and/or biomechanics.
Experience writing and/or amending IRB protocols and other regulatory documents.
Experience with university purchasing and travel.
