About The Position

As part of the RIDOT Executive Office, this position is with the Communications & Customer Service (CCS) staff which oversees marketing communications activities for the entire Department. Specifically, CCS manages media relations and advocacy, brand planning, visual arts, digital media, and community relations. College Interns working in CCS have an opportunity to not only work alongside seasoned communications professionals who welcome the fresh energy and perspective that students with diverse backgrounds bring but also interact with a wide range of government and agency leaders, including elected officials, engineers, planners, and financial experts.

Requirements

  • A working knowledge of graphic arts, social media, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite or Quark
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate and concise written reports, etc.
  • Applicants must be second year students currently enrolled at an accredited college/university.

Nice To Haves

  • Students majoring in a communications, journalism or related concentration program are preferred.
  • A student’s academic standing and GPA are considered for placement preference.

Responsibilities

  • To assist in the development of collateral materials (i.e. annual reports, presentations, newsletters, outdoor ads, etc.) as well as event planning and market research.
  • To participate in the important task of preparing the daily news bundle for delivery to the Department’s senior leadership team.
  • To assist with the development of visually appealing digital and print materials.
  • To do related work as required.
