The purpose of this classification is to plan, coordinate, and deliver public education and training programs for schools, neighborhood and community organizations, businesses, and the general public.
Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and develops educational programming in assigned specialty.
Researches and develops curricula and presentations.
Prepares activities and audiovisual materials.
Secures locations and dates for programs.
Coordinates and schedules programs with participants.
Sets up for programs.
Delivers educational programs.
Conducts training and education programs in a variety of settings and for a variety of audiences.
Facilitates tours, workshops, contests, and special events.
Responds to inquiries and follow-up questions related to educational topics.
Solicits and coordinates volunteers.
Explains and promotes volunteer programs.
Schedules, trains, and assists volunteers in completing volunteer assignments.
Tracks educational program data.
Compiles data related to program participation, costs, and effectiveness.
Conducts surveys to collect participant feedback.
Prepares related reports.
Researches and stays abreast of changes in the assigned field/specialty.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations.
Communicates with department staff, supervisor, other employees, schools, community groups, volunteers, the public, and other individuals as needed.
Requirements
Associate degree in Public Relations, Communications, or a field of study directly related to the departmental mission required.
Three years of experience in training, communications, or a related field.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
