About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! •This position will report to the Security Accountability Section. •This position will be responsible for statewide consultation and coordination of Category II publications, appealed Category I publications and all Correspondence Appeals for Offenders. •This position will receive, log, and distribute publications and correspondences that the offenders are appealing to the designated review committee members as well as coordinating the return of the response along with the publication back to the sending facility. •This position is responsible for tracking all appeals sent to the General Counsels office. •This position will be responsible for providing notifications to all facilities and offenders in writing detailing the status of all Category II Publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience to establish and maintain an effective relationship with Offenders, Offenders' families, and a variety of professional and paraprofessional personnel.
  • Experience reviewing Offender Publications.

Responsibilities

  • Statewide consultation and coordination of Category II publications, appealed Category I publications and all Correspondence Appeals for Offenders.
  • Receive, log, and distribute publications and correspondences that the offenders are appealing to the designated review committee members as well as coordinating the return of the response along with the publication back to the sending facility.
  • Tracking all appeals sent to the General Counsels office.
  • Providing notifications to all facilities and offenders in writing detailing the status of all Category II Publications.
