About The Position

Shape, Inc., a United Flow Technologies (UFT) comp0any, is seeking a Pump MechanicTechnician to diagnose, rebuild, and maintain pumping equipment used in municipal and industrial water/wastewater systems. In this role, you will work both in our Stockton shop and in the field, performing mechanical and electrical service work. You’ll be a key part of our service team, representing Shape professionally to our customers and ensuring the reliability of critical pumping systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • Clean DMV record; willing to undergo random drug testing.
  • 3+ years of mechanical experience, especially with pumps or heavy equipment.
  • Skilled in using electrical testing tools/equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Proven forklift operation ability.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate computer literacy (e.g., for documentation, testing data).
  • Fluent reading and writing in English.
  • Strong time-management and efficiency skills.
  • Frequent overnight travel required.
  • Experience operating a boom truck.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical background (3 years) preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics and PLC programming

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose pump failures, disassemble and rebuild pump units.
  • Fill out teardown documentation and clearly detail failure causes.
  • Compile parts lists for required repairs and estimate repair costs.
  • Communicate with customers to explain the diagnosis, repair process, and outcomes.
  • Perform post-repair testing using Shape’s test panels and tools.
  • Handle shipping, receiving, and staging of equipment and parts.
  • Provide field service including preventive maintenance and commissioning of new pump systems.
  • Troubleshoot in-field control panel and pump issues.
  • Independently operate the boom truck to remove or install equipment.
  • Coordinate with sales and service teams on project needs and customer communications.
  • Maintain a professional and customer-facing presence.
  • Work independently, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support Shape’s operations.
