About The Position

Makes recommendations to the Director of Procurement for the purchase of a wide variety of technical and non-technical items and materials requested for purchase by departments within the organization. Responsible for vendor management that includes but not limited to selection of vendors, vendor licensing review, tracking, and archiving of bids, excel workbooks, and managing within the Workday system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED; Recognized Equivalent of a High School Diploma (RED) or Foreign High School Diploma (FHD)
  • Two (2) years’ purchasing experience in a high-volume, complex hotel, casino, or similar environment.
  • One year’s experience negotiating with vendors and knowledge of the bidding process.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
  • Intermediate Word and Excel skills are required.
  • Must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes superior guest service.

  • Ensures purchase proposals are received and recorded per the Purchasing Guidelines set by Director of Procurement.
  • Ensures quantity, price, quality, and expectations are met on products and services provided by vendors.
  • Takes meetings with potential vendors who meet approved vendor criteria.
  • Places purchase orders and verifies detail on purchase order for the group of materials and services requested to order.
  • Notifies vendors when purchase commitments are made.
  • Ensures products and services are delivered on time.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper record keeping and updating all electronic files daily.
  • Identify and create item numbers for repeat purchases and proper records maintained in ordering system.
  • Research new products or services available and suggests them to department requestors.
  • Responsible for timely follow up to requestor on all open requests for products and services.
  • Identify and report to Director of Procurement on any deviations found on purchase request that do not follow company guidelines.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
