About The Position

Metals USA is seeking a Purchasing Clerk/Assistant in Langhorne (Bucks County) PA. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented, carbon-steel (plate, beam, tube) distribution center servicing the defense, commercial, construction, aerospace and fabrication industries. Position Summary: The Purchasing Clerk is responsible to perform various routine administrative duties such as preparing purchasing requisitions, transportation and delivery schedules, and inventory and cost reports.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts suppliers for delivery status.
  • Verifies deliveries are received.
  • Assists in facilitating the return of incorrect or damaged orders.
  • May verify or acquire pricing.
  • Develops and maintains record of goods ordered and received and other procurement records and files.
  • Checks internal stock prior to purchasing materials, tooling or supplies.
  • Builds and maintains good business vendor relationships.
  • Researches new or alternate vendors as required.
  • Enters all orders to shop system per company procedures.
  • Expedites and performs follow ups on all purchase orders.
  • Communicates to management all delays in material receipts that impact customer delivery dates.
  • Contacts suppliers in order to schedule delivery or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries.
  • Responds to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations.
  • Requires competent knowledge and application of fundamental purchasing concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Requires discretion and evaluation to resolve problems and, in defined situations, independent judgment beyond applying established procedures.
  • Adheres to Reliance's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
