About The Position

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to help expand and maintain our automated testing ecosystem. You’ll join a fast paced, user focused development team committed to delivering high quality software within a rapidly growing organization.What You Will DoAs a QA Automation Engineer, you bring curiosity, a passion for quality, and a drive to explore new testing technologies. You will help shape our automation strategy, write reliable and maintainable test code, and ensure our products meet the highest standards. Working closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Engineers, you will translate functional requirements into comprehensive test plans and scalable automated test solutions. You will participate in the full development lifecycle, championing quality and troubleshooting issues in production critical environments.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in test automation, with a strong preference for candidates having 1+ years experience with Playwright.
  • Experience testing modern web-based applications and APIs.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Understanding of the software development and testing lifecycles (SDLC, STLC)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and a self-motivated, detail-oriented approach to tasks.
  • Proficient software debugging and root cause analysis skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using AI powered or generative AI tools to accelerate test development, debugging, or optimization.
  • Solid understanding of object oriented design, data structures, and software design patterns as applied to test automation.
  • Experience developing or testing in a Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, and debug automated test frameworks and scripts using Playwright to ensure software quality.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers during planning and design to ensure testability is built into products from the start.
  • Analyze system capabilities and functional requirements to determine QA needs, identify defects, define testing techniques, and prepare operating instructions for test environments and frameworks.
  • Execute automated tests through GitLab CI pipelines, analyze results, and report defects to ensure software meets requirements.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and testing procedures for new and updated software features.
