About The Position

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Quality Assurance Automation Team Lead to drive the development of scalable automated testing solutions. This role sits within a fast paced, user focused engineering team that is rapidly expanding. The Team Lead will guide QA strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure the delivery of high quality software across complex, and distributed systems.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience leading QA teams, including task assignment, mentorship, and performance management.
  • 5+ years of experience with Playwright or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Strong background in CI/CD testing strategies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodologies, and code quality best practices.
  • Strong foundation in QA fundamentals: test planning, test case design, defect management.
  • Experience testing distributed systems and understanding system architecture.
  • Knowledge of object oriented design, data structures, and design patterns for scalable automation.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and self motivated.
  • Must have an active Secret Security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using AI powered tools to accelerate test development and debugging.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript; Python experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with modern web frameworks (React, Vue) and Node.js..
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux development environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA Engineers, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical direction, career guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Collaborate with Program and Project Management to translate requirements into test strategies and automation plans.
  • Define, track, and communicate key quality metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Playwright (or similar tools such as Selenium/Cypress).
  • Own and evolve the automated regression suite for production critical environments.
  • Develop and execute automated test plans for new features and regression cycles.
  • Troubleshoot issues across the full development lifecycle and contribute hands on to automation efforts.
  • Improve test architecture and influence long term QA strategy.
