We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our GetInsured team. GetInsured is the leading provider for state-based marketplace technology with more experience than any technology provider transitioning states off healthcare.gov and implementing exchanges. We are dedicated to helping as many Americans as possible easily find and enroll in affordable health insurance.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in QA / Software Testing
  • Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals and QA best practices
  • Experience writing basic to intermediate SQL queries for data validation
  • Experience testing APIs or backend services
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux commands for basic troubleshooting
  • Ability to write clear test cases and defect reports
  • Experience working in Agile development environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or regulated domains
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks or scripting
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Execute manual and automated test cases for functional, integration, and regression testing
  • Validate backend data using PostgreSQL and SQL queries
  • Test APIs and backend services using tools such as Postman
  • Identify, document, and track defects using JIRA, and verify fixes
  • Assist in planning test efforts to support delivery timelines
  • Analyze test results and report quality risks to the team
  • Review requirements and basic technical documentation for testability and completeness
  • Perform testing in production-like environments to validate release readiness
  • Use UNIX/Linux commands to review logs and assist with debugging issues
  • Contribute to improving test coverage and testing processes over time
  • Create and maintain basic automation scripts as needed
