The QA Technician, Laboratory is responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of raw materials, ingredients, in-process products and finished good products. The QA Technician Laboratory is directly accountable for the specific duties detailed below, in addition to any other duties as defined by the QA Shift Leader/Manager. This role is primarily in our Star location but will require you to be in Troy to help support the micro lab and analytical lab. This role may also require some weekend and night shifts.

  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
  • Physical lifting up to 40-lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.
  • Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment, and following approved chemical handling procedures.
  • Good visual acuity with the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Fine manipulation and hand dexterity, including ability to grip and squeeze; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), to include bump cap, hearing, and eye protection.  This also include additional PPE requirements as defined for the position activities.
  • Must be able to work overtime on a daily and/or weekly basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct micro, analytical, and organoleptic testing of raw ingredients, in-process samples and finished goods.
  • Enter test results and other data into quality databases or spreadsheets.
  • Record information in logs and forms as required.
  • Advise and confer with departmental supervisors regarding non-conforming products.
  • Place non-conforming products on hold and make assessments for disposition.
  • Understand and enforce compliance with all regulatory, corporate and plant policies and procedures.
  • Support QA team during internal and external audits.
  • Review records, reports and databases for discrepancies.
  • You must be able to communicate efficiently verbally and through email & Microsoft teams.
  • Able to operate a stand-up lift
