About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible to perform requirements related to Quality and Compliance activities: incoming quality inspection, inspection on raw materials and finished goods, use of proper testing methods, lab equipment, compatibility testing, product weight standard preparation, and laboratory documentation. Proper use of computer software and systems including SPC, JD Edwards, Excel, PowerPoint and Failure Report database. Contact with other departments, Vendors, contract packagers and other personnel as required. JOB DUTIES TO INCLUDE: Create product weight standards for production lines that also function as “Master” for product components including bottles, caps, hang tags, liquids, labels, etc. Testing and sampling of incoming materials include: bulk material shipments, labels, drums, bottle qualifications and other packaging/product components. Testing of in-process and finished product batches for specification compliance. Preparation of laboratory batches and maintenance of work area. Development of product specification through the sampling evaluation and testing of product samples as required by Gold Eagle Standard Operating procedures. Perform quality audits of the Filling-Packaging process, blow molded containers, finished goods at the DC, and contract packaged finished product and other materials/products as required. Set-up of product compatibility tests, documentation of product/package performance and recording of data. Removal and storage of product retains per the Gold Eagle requirements. Perform ASTM round robin inter-laboratory testing submitting test data to ASTM. Troubleshoot process problems, assist in manufacturing with implementation of quality standards and provide technical support to plant personnel. Represent Quality and Compliance on task forces which address quality issues. Perform root cause analysis to internal failure reports as required recommending corrective actions. Perform duties related statistical process control (SPC) software/system and participation as a consultant to the manufacturing operation. Use of Local Area Network to set-up, load and print SPC product test results, trends, parieto charts and other related topics. All duties necessary to spot, sample, receive, unload, etc. raw materials arriving in bulk tankers. Support Project Management with laboratory data, pallet patterns, product specifications, and packaging change requests (PCR). Testing drums (Flash test) to determine product flammability. Support Customer requirements with the generation and distribution of Certification of Analysis, inventory reporting, MSDS and supplier performance data. Calibrate and troubleshoot Laboratory Equipment following direction of Quality & Compliance Manager. Oversee third party lab testing in regards to UN Testing, microbial aerobic/anaerobic plate counts. Assist Quality Manager in training Quality Assurance Inspectors supporting their development. Perform necessary housekeeping and 5S to maintain the lab areas and retain areas in a clean, neat, safe and orderly manner. Maintenance and wearing of necessary safety equipment as described in the Gold Eagle Safety Program. Investigate quality issues, generating failure reports documenting nonconforming product (Internal, Vendor and External). Coordinate failure report analysis as related to generation of Failure Reports, internal and external problems. Provide Manager of Quality and Compliance with summaries of this information and statistically evaluate this information as a problem solving tool. Use of J.D. Edwards ERP System for inspection, job posting, failure report transactions, and bulk loads received. Perform any other tasks as required or assigned by the Manager- Quality and Compliance.

Requirements

  • 4 years college degree in a technical discipline such as chemistry, biology, engineering, science, etc.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a quality assurance position with a consumer product manufacturer.
  • Familiarity with blow molding, packaging and packaging components.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with vendors and employees to analyze, solve and prevent problems.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, statistical process control, ISO Standards, Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Computer literate and the ability to use Micro Soft suite of software: Word, Excel, Access, publisher and other types of software.
