About The Position

Qualified Mental Health Professional Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient and family/caregiver needs with respect to patient’s psychosocial health. Provides individual, family, and/or group therapy, creates and supervises an interdisciplinary rehabilitation plan.

  • Meets the criteria for practicing as a Qualified Mental Health Professional in the state of Oregon as one of the following:
  • Psychiatrist or physician, licensed to practice in the State of Oregon
  • Individual with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or other mental health-related field
  • Registered nurse with a graduate degree in psychiatric nursing, licensed in the State of Oregon
  • Registered nurse with a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrable skills in the Qualified Mental Health Professional role
  • An individual with registration as an occupational therapist
  • An individual with a graduate degree in recreational therapy
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • SAFE class or organization approved workplace violence training or obtain within 6 months of hire which must be obtained by the last day of the month after the six (6) month grace period
  • At least three (3) years experience in field of psychiatric patient care
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
  • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone

Nice To Haves

  • Therapeutic Recreational Specialist certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation preferred
