About The Position

Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for a QA/Training Manager. The QA/Training Manager performs under the general direction of the Director of Maintenance and is responsible for leading Trinity Metro’s maintenance quality assurance program and overseeing the maintenance training department. This position ensures that all vehicles and equipment maintenance performed by mechanics meet established safety, regulatory and organizational standards. The manager provides leadership and direction for both quality inspection and training functions.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of transit safety and federal regulations
  • Managing QA programs, audits, or compliance
  • Supervising mechanics or maintenance operations
  • Graduation from an accredited college or technical school with Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Vocation Instruction, or another field related to vehicle repair and maintenance or training.
  • Any combination of experience, training, and/or education that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills may substitute for the required education.

  • Experience in transit or heavy fleet maintenance preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive quality assurance program for maintenance operations.
  • Conduct and oversee quality inspections of major work performed, including preventative maintenance inspections; engine and transmission repairs; air and electrical systems; brakes and suspensions; and related mechanical systems.
  • Ensure the maintenance employees, fleet equipment, and maintenance operations comply with current maintenance-related laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Initiate programs targeting specific equipment to increase vehicle reliability, safety and performance.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and technical guidance to technicians and supervisors regarding diagnostic approaches, repair quality, and best practices to resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Oversee the verification of accuracy and completeness of maintenance documentation and repair records to support regulatory compliance and warranty recovery.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the QA Technician(s), ensuring inspections are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Assign the QA Technician maintenance tasks to be performed.
  • Manage the maintenance training department and ensure training programs align with operational needs, safety requirements and evolving fleet technology.
  • Ensure training covers preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair procedures, new equipment introduction and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in all areas of vehicle maintenance and remain aware of rules and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure bus specifications are maintained as a living document. As changes and upgrades are made to the existing fleet, ensure that specifications for future vehicles reflect those changes.
  • Inspect and oversee new vehicles, coaches, and equipment to ensure they meet written specifications and Trinity Metro standards. Periodically inspect work being performed by outside vendors and contract personnel for quality and compliance with standards.
  • Manages bus fleet warranty claims by verifying eligibility, preparing documentation and submitting reimbursement requests to OEMs/vendors to ensure timely cost recovery.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and performance management of direct reports.
  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and best practices related to maintenance quality and training.
  • Maintains confidential information.

  • Makes recommendations to management to improve operations, decrease inefficiencies and streamline work processes; works cooperatively with all customers, internal and external.
  • Participates in company community activities to promote transit on off-duty hours.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Applies supervisory responsibility according to organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviews, hires and trains employees; plans and directs work; sets goals for the department; evaluates and manages employee performance; addresses complaints and resolves employee issues.
