1 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to Quality Supervisor. 2 PURPOSE 2.1 Function 2.1.1 Conduct in-process and final product process and product audits; 2.1.2 Provide support to Manufacturing in regards to quality issues; 2.1.3 Conduct weld tests. 2.2 Authority 2.2.1 Ensure completion of in-process and final inspections per applicable procedures and work instructions, and affect processes when needed; 2.2.2 Ensure compliance to stated process controls, and affect processes when needed. 2.2.3 Make an educated decision regarding the corrected process of the quality issues in the absence of a Quality Engineer. 3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 3.1 In-Process Inspection / Auditing 3.1.1 Per applicable work instructions, verify in-process inspection data integrity and maintain records as required (random verification / comparison); 3.1.2 Audit inspection data completeness (II data sheets); 3.1.3 Review control charts for completeness and identification of possible concerns; 3.1.4 Assist production associates with inspection methods or interpretation of acceptance criteria 3.1.5 Complete daily torque verification audits per applicable audit sheets; 3.1.6 Complete daily collapse / load testing per applicable audit sheets; 3.1.7 Ensure that all required gauging is in place and being utilized; 3.1.8 Assist manufacturing with containment activities as needed; 3.1.9 Assist in problem solving activities as needed; 3.1.10 Complete daily and monthly layered audits. 3.2 Final Audit 3.2.1 Perform Final audits for assigned areas at required frequencies per applicable work instructions; 3.2.2 Review final inspection data for accuracy and completeness; 3.2.3 Ensure containment actions are carried out when audit failures occur; 3.2.4 Review control charts for completeness and identification of possible concerns; 3.2.5 Review Lot control sheets for accuracy and completeness; 3.2.6 Ensure appropriate part identification and inspection status are present before release of product. 3.3 Poka Yoke Verification 3.3.1 Complete Poka Yoke verifications per established schedules; 3.3.2 Verify mfg. Associates have completed required Poka Yoke verifications; 3.3.3 Assist Manufacturing with containment and/or corrective action activities resulting from Poka Yoke concerns / failures. 3.4 Handling of non-conforming material. 3.4.1 Defect verification; 3.4.2 Containment and notification to internal departments; 3.4.3 NCMT issuance at plant and warehouse; 3.4.4 Monitor rework / salvage activities and inspect as required by applicable Rework / Salvage Instructions. 3.5 Weld Testing 3.5.1 Verify weld penetration per applicable procedures and work instructions (DS-1005-H); 3.5.2 Verify weld tensile strength per applicable procedures and work instructions; 3.5.3 Maintain records for above as required, including control charts for critical welds; 3.5.4 Ensure containment and corrective action for test failures per applicable procedures and work instructions (DS-1005-H). 3.6 Gauge Calibration 3.6.1 Assist Quality Technicians with Gage Calibration activities where qualified to do so; 3.6.2 Assist in Gage R&R studies as requested; 3.6.3 Randomly review gages on plant floor for damage or needed maintenance. 3.7 General 3.7.1 Provide copies of current Inspection Data Sheets to Responsible Facilitators each week (by close of business each Friday); 3.7.2 Assist in part Layout and Process/Product capability studies as assigned; 3.7.3 Participate on problem solving/continuous improvement teams as assigned; 3.7.4 Review of 5S implementation / maintenance during normal daily activities; 3.7.5 Record significant events in Quality Auditor Daily Activity Log; 3.7.6 Verify control documents for accuracy and revision level on production floor; 3.7.7 Perform CAR verification audits for implementation and completion of documents; 3.7.8 Per applicable work instructions, perform receiving inspection and maintain necessary documents; 3.7.9 Other duties as assigned.
