About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting materials, construction processes, and completed modular homes to ensure compliance with company quality standards, specifications, and applicable building codes. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, minimizing costly rework or shipping delays, and ensuring homes meet or exceed regulatory requirements prior to shipment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school OR six months to one year of related experience and/or training OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and technical documents
  • Ability to write basic reports and communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Mathematical skills including basic algebra, geometry, and calculations involving area, volume, proportions, and percentages
  • Strong reasoning skills and ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Proficiency with computers and manufacturing or inspection-related software
  • Follow all safety rules, regulations, and housekeeping standards

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to understand product requirements
  • Inspect construction materials to verify conformity with specified grades, standards, and installation methods
  • Verify rough opening measurements and floor plan layouts for accuracy and compliance with approved plans
  • Ensure electrical, plumbing, heating, and construction methods meet applicable state and local building codes
  • Document inspection activities and maintain accurate records; submit reports to appropriate personnel
  • Identify shipped loose items, verify acceptable quality, and ensure inclusion on shipping lists
  • Perform final inspections of completed homes, noting missing items, shortages, or deficiencies and notifying appropriate personnel
  • Affix required state or regulatory labels and seals verifying compliance with building code requirements
  • Coordinate weekly with transportation teams to ensure paperwork is complete and deficiencies are resolved prior to shipment
  • Assemble warranty packets to accompany homes to delivery sites
  • Exercise sound judgment when red-tagging products or components to prevent costly shipping or production delays
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable building codes to support efficient inspection activities
  • Collaborate with federal, state, and local inspectors to facilitate timely inspections
  • Perform plant updates, maintenance, and production support duties during shutdown periods
  • Follow all safety rules, regulations, and housekeeping standards
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships to support a safe and productive work environment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
