About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Quality Control Manager (QCM) to support federal construction operations at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. The QCM plays a dual role in overseeing both quality assurance and field safety, ensuring full compliance with USACE, DOE, EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and other applicable standards. This position is key to maintaining the integrity of work on a specialized Remnant Removal Project that involves structural steel and safety-critical components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or 10+ years of relevant construction experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a QCM on USACE or DOE construction projects.
  • USACE "Construction Quality Management for Contractors" Certification required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain).
  • Must be eligible to obtain DoD/DOE security clearance for site access.
  • Proficiency with RMS, Microsoft Office, and documentation software.

Nice To Haves

  • Fall Protection Competent Person certification preferred.
  • Expertise in civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural construction disciplines.
  • Deep knowledge of structural steel preservation, removal activities, and base metal repair protocols.
  • Working familiarity with NQA-1 compliance and documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Experience managing quality programs in high-scrutiny federal environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily QC activities, ensuring all construction work aligns with project specs and contract requirements.
  • Oversee field inspections, equipment verification, and preservation of Safety Class (SC) and Safety Significant (SS) steel components.
  • Manage and maintain project documentation, including submittals, inspection reports, daily logs, and NQA-1 files.
  • Conduct and document preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for all definable features of work.
  • Review drawings, submittals, and work packages for technical compliance.
  • Manage materials inspection, handling, and storage in accordance with approved submittals.
  • Coordinate resolution of non-conformance items with subcontractors and project leadership.
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation and support closeout processes.
  • Stop work if safety or quality is compromised-especially around SC/SS components.
  • Participate in QC and safety meetings, briefings, and project updates.
