About The Position

This person will be responsible for ensuring Food Safety guidelines and practices are met as well as have responsibility for Safety Compliance within the facility.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively.
  • Strong familiarity with computer software required.
  • HACCP and Food Safety and Defense Action planning preferred.
  • Familiarity with the statistical control process.
  • Strong knowledge of food-borne pathogens and mitigation techniques.
  • Prior food safety audit experience including AIB or Siliker.
  • OSHA 30 Hour coursework completion.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional Food Safety coursework preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control function required; preferably in a meat processing facility.
  • 2-3 years of prior Supervisory experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • SQF or BRC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support a food-safe working environment by complying with SOP procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensure the HACCP program is in place and processes are followed.
  • Ensure USDA procedures are followed.
  • Either personally or through delegation ensure all quality control processes are met, and report deviations and corrective actions to the General Manager and the Corporate Safety & Compliance Manager.
  • Prepare and participate in the food safety audits including AIB.
  • Inspect products including taking temperatures, and weights, and performing tests (such as swabs for microbes).
  • Inform Management of any deviations from expected norms.
  • Support USDA in inspections as requested.
  • Supervise staff’s effectiveness in inspections to ensure adherence to customer specifications and food safety regulations.
  • Calibrate equipment as needed and according to procedure.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Demonstrate a safe working environment by following and ensuring safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Actively train, mentor, and supervise direct and indirect labor as appropriate.
  • Partner with facility operations and HR to track new hire progress and plan for a New Hire's smooth transition to the operations using the Alchemy Virtual Training platform.
  • Serve as site training Point of Contact for all industry regulators, clients, and station stakeholders to ensure training compliance.
  • Partner with Facility Management to assist in scheduling and ensuring specialized training is tracked and conducted in accordance with required yearly training policies.
  • Oversee monthly Safety Committee meetings, with a clear expectation that meeting agendas, notetaking, and post-meeting presentations are required.
  • Support the delivery of live training events across the facility. This includes daily and weekly Safety Toolbox talks.
  • Assist the Management in teaching and tracking required Training for all levels of employees up to and including facility management.
  • Other duties may be assigned as business necessitates.
