About The Position
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products meet all customer, engineering, and internal quality requirements. This role combines hands-on inspection and CMM programming with quality engineering, problem-solving, and continuous improvement responsibilities. The Quality Engineer supports production, suppliers, and customers by providing inspection methods, quality documentation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and oversight of the Quality Management System.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes
- Advanced understanding of GD&T and inspection methods
- Proven CMM programming skills
- Experience with SPC, FMEA, DOE, and process validation
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum 2 years quality or manufacturing engineering experience
- Minimum 3 years CMM programming experience (PC-DMIS preferred)
Nice To Haves
- Experience in stamping, drawing, sheet metal, or welding preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS and PolyWorks
- Perform dimensional inspections including first article, in-process, final, PPAP, and dock inspections
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and GD&T
- Provide inspection documentation and technical support to manufacturing
- Participate in APQP activities including control plans, PFMEAs, gage R&R, and process verification
- Complete ISIRs and PPAP submissions
- Investigate and resolve internal, customer, and supplier quality issues
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
- Support ISO 9001:2015 audits and documentation
- Perform supplier quality audits
- Conduct capability studies and statistical analysis
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform incoming material and dock inspections
- Maintain calibration of inspection tools
- Train production personnel on quality requirements
- Communicate with customers on quality matters
- Perform other duties as assigned
