About The Position

We're looking for a hands-on, systems-minded Quality Engineering Manager to oversee product quality from the factory line to field performance. You will ensure that our products are meeting the highest expectations of our customers. You'll lead root-cause investigations, translate field feedback into applicable engineering projects, and partner with Engineering, Operations, and our contract manufacturers to drive measurable quality improvements. This is an ideal role for someone who excels at the intersection of technical depth, structured problem-solving, and execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Quality Engineering, specifically focused on the consumer electronics hardware space.
  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or relevant senior-level technical experience).
  • A diverse background in product lifecycle management, including a mix of Quality, Sustaining, and Product Engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of hardware compliance and global regulatory requirements (EU, UL, UN, IEC, VeraSol, etc.).
  • A deep knowledge of the warranty lifecycle, including root cause analysis, special investigations, and "design-for-reliability" improvements.
  • A willingness to get involved in technical troubleshooting, while maintaining a strategic perspective on brand quality and safety.
  • Command of essential Quality tools like Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Charts, 8D Methodology, 5 Whys, FMEA
  • Experience generating comprehensive recommendations for prioritization and resource needs, considering technical issues, brand/customer risk, and economic impacts
  • Experience managing or collaborating with engineers and technicians across several disciplines (Quality, Sustaining, Compliance).
  • An understanding of global manufacturing, including finished goods inspections, third-party lab coordination, and supply chain accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee sustaining engineering for our full product catalog, ensuring long-term reliability and performance across multiple brands.
  • Lead the end-to-end Warranty and Sustaining process, including project management of design refinements or manufacturing improvements required post-launch.
  • Provide project resource estimates to aid in project prioritization
  • Manage "deep-dive" technical investigations into field failures or complex quality escalations to identify causes and implement permanent solutions.
  • Manage high-level quality correspondence and escalations, prioritizing engineering efforts based on brand impact and customer experience.
  • Provide direct management, mentorship, and daily guidance to the Quality Engineering team (currently 2 engineers) and external compliance consultants.
  • Manage global product compliance with a focus on international requirements (e.g., EU regulations) and new battery and solar standards.
  • Oversee certification testing and Finished Good Inspections (FGI) for off-grid products , ensuring goods ship at required standards.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for the sales team, providing essential compliance and safety documentation for global retail partners.
  • Maintain and improve technical troubleshooting guides to empower the wider Customer Service and Technical Support teams.
  • Provide dedicated sustaining and warranty support for our specialized emerging markets portfolio.
  • Own technical oversight of our proprietary pay-as-you-go and specialized energy software/hardware interfaces.
  • Provide technical documentation and performance data to support external reporting and grant requirements.
