ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor and champion the proper flow of inline defects from the assembly line to the rework area. Monitor, investigate, and respond to internal defects by receiving, inspecting, analyzing, disassembling, and repairing assemblies, sub-assemblies, and sub-components rejected by the assembly process. Record all analysis findings for all inline defects; analyze, stratify, and report all defect trend information to the working team in support of driving continuous improvement activity. Own and maintain the retention of rework data. Support manufacturing floor-side members with quality related questions and concerns. Utilize standardized documentation and prescribed resources for the quick resolution of issues. Quickly escalate and communicate issues to the Quality Engineer when necessary. Support the Quality Engineer in collecting relevant information for the compilation of standardized documentation. Support the Quality Engineer by collecting data in assistance to investigation efforts. Assist or support the Quality Engineer in carrying out experiments, tests, trials, or validations in support of various projects and initiatives. Assist the Quality Engineer and Production Engineer(s) in the troubleshooting of daily floor-side issues. Champion the use of specialized gauging and inspection equipment; train and support floor-side members in the proficient use thereof. Effectively use gauges and measuring equipment for the purpose of investigating and determining the root cause of inline defects. Verify conformance with product specifications and technical standards. Support the QE in containing and sorting internal defects to prevent potential outflow and maintain customer satisfaction. Support various audit activities to ensure conformance with customer requirements and/or company policies. Complete all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly responsibilities as defined and trained to, or otherwise perform any task instructed 'by the Quality Engineering Section Manager or Quality Engineering Department Manager. SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED The ability to interpret product drawings, schematics, and measurement reports is required. A strong sense of resourcefulness in the utilization of standardized documents is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required. The ability to create and present formal presentations is required. A strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred. Prior experience with measurement tools (e. Calipers, Micrometers, Microscopes, etc.) is required. (CMM experience is preferred) Prior experience or an understanding of Gauge Calibration and Verification is preferred. (i.e. - Gauge R&R) Prior experience or an understanding of IATF certification and conformance is preferred. Prior Knowledge of Statistical Process Control is preferred. Prior Knowledge of APQP and PPAP is preferred. Excellent Problem-Solving Skills and a strong Mechanical Aptitude are required. Prior experience with electronics is preferred. Prior experience with hand tools is required. (i.e. - wrenches, impact drivers, etc.) Automotive repair experience is preferred.
