Quality Inspector & CMM Operator
About The Position
The Quality Inspector & CMM Operator is responsible for ensuring precision-manufactured parts meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards. This Quality Inspector & CMM Operator role performs detailed inspections using precision measuring tools and operates coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part accuracy. The ideal Quality Inspector & CMM Operator has strong blueprint reading skills, experience with GD&T, and the ability to work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain quality standards in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years of CMM operation or programming experience (Zeiss/Calypso preferred)
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications
- Experience working within AS9100 quality systems and calibration practices
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and production teams
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing inspections
Nice To Haves
- CMM certification preferred
- NDT or Weld Inspector certifications are a plus
- Technical training or related degree in manufacturing or quality systems preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Document inspection results, non-conformances, and job data in JobBoss
- Operate and maintain Zeiss G2 CMM equipment and related inspection tools
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications to verify part conformance
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and inefficiencies
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
