About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Quality Inspector to ensure our aluminum boats meet Alumacraft’s Standard of quality and safety. This role involves conducting inspections throughout the manufacturing process, documenting findings, and collaborating with production teams to resolve issues. The ideal candidate will have experience with basic measuring tools, hand and power tools, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications. This Quality Inspector role will report to the Quality Engineer. The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $21.80

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to stop and question unsafe work.
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality inspection role.
  • Familiarity with basic measuring tools and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crawl and work for several hours in various positions either on a concrete floor or within a boat.
  • Ability to manually move products and materials through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow instructions and effectively execute procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the marine or metal fabrication industry.
  • Knowledge of aluminum welding and fabrication processes.
  • Quality Certifications / Trainings (e.g., ASQ CQI, Previous Internal Training)
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems in a customer-driven manufacturing environment.
  • Patience and practicality while working under pressure.
  • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of aluminum boat components and assemblies.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Use basic measuring tools (e.g., calipers, tape measures) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools to assist in inspection / project tasks.
  • Document inspection results and non-conformances using Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of quality.
  • Follow all internal processes and procedures including incident reporting, rework escalation, and stop-call-wait.
  • Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming materials to prevent unintended use or shipment, ensuring proper containment procedures are followed and communicated to relevant departments.
