We are honored to be constructing our newest shingle manufacturing facility in Newton KS and hiring is underway as we build our initial plant leadership team. Due to our investment in training and the development of employees, you will have the opportunity to travel to our other locations, engage with peers, support the hiring of plant staff and participate in the design and construction of the facility. You will wear many hats during the construction and commissioning phases of the project, and ease into your steady role over time. The Quality Technician will perform various quality systems and testing activities for the manufacturing operation, including raw material and process fluid testing, quality audits, plant trials, and quality lab maintenance and organization.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience as a lab technician in a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • Associate’s Degree is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct finished product quality audits
  • Generate data to maintain control charts and statistical reports
  • Perform routine physical property tests
  • Communicate with production operators and leaders
  • Audit operator testing
  • Make real-time product accept/reject decisions
  • Perform plant trial run testing
  • Maintain lab & operator test instrument calibrations and documentation
  • Complete all activities safely and actively work to reduce the risk of injury in the plant.
  • Routine testing of manufactured shingles, in-process fluids and critical raw materials as needed.
  • Execute communication, documentation, investigation, and testing of production line off-quality issues, including accept/reject decisions.
  • Conduct routine audits of identified production testing activities and finished goods to monitor performance of plant quality systems.
  • Complete assigned sampling and testing to support Plant Trial Runs.
  • Conduct and coordinate calibration and maintenance of operator & quality lab testing equipment.
  • Maintain QA Lab housekeeping.
  • Utilize and maintain various computer-based programs to store and analyze process and product data for degree of stability and conformance to standards.
  • Attend and participate in daily crew meetings.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in continuous safety improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
