About The Position

Leprino Foods Company, a global leader in the dairy food and ingredient industry, is seeking a dedicated Quality Main Lab Team Lead at our Waverly, NY plant. This position is responsible for the quality control support of production departments, and for periodic and regular inspections and audits of the plant facility to ensure awareness and adherence to corporate and governmental regulations.   Schedule: Leprino Foods is a 24/7 operating facility; the current vacancy is a DAY SHIFT position working 4am – 4:30pm. We have a 12-hour schedule which has a 2-2-3 rotation that allows for every other weekend off.  After training is complete, new hires will be assigned a regular schedule on the next available shift.   Pay Rate: $30.36 per hour $1.00 per hour weekend differential for all hours worked between 12:01am Saturday morning through 11:59pm Sunday night $0.75 shift differential for all evening hours worked between 6 pm and 5:59 am any day of the week

Requirements

  • You must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Must be able to work Sunday-Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays and required overtime to support a 24-hour / 7-day operation.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 12.5 hours.
  • Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Prior experience working in a lab environment.
  • Able to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and to prioritize effectively.
  • Basic understanding of chemicals.
  • Able to interpret data and make necessary decisions.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year prior manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to obtain state certification if operating in the Milk Screening Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisor in scheduling lab technicians.  Monitor and distribute workload evenly.  Track unbudgeted special testing on a weekly basis and report to the supervisor.
  • Communicate the status of lab workload, testing concerns, equipment opportunities, personnel issues, follow-up items, etc.
  • Participate in procedure audits to ensure consistency between technicians.  Assist in training and/or development employees. Assist in the preparation/maintaining and review of internal lab SOP’s.
  • Review and evaluate all test results.  Maintain an organized system for filing and record keeping following guidelines for records retention.
  • Responsible for monitoring and/or participating in all Quality Control programs
  • Coordinate and monitor the lab supply inventory program to ensure that supplies are ordered when necessary.
  • Collect, log and box any samples or items that require shipment to other locations.
  • Handle personnel issues in a private, fair and consistent manner as required.  Maintain communication with all shifts verbally and by logbook.
  • Work within guidelines of all company policies and procedures, including lab safety and good manufacturing procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor the master cleaning program for the lab following up on opportunity areas.
  • Assist in setting up miscellaneous testing, special studies, special projects and/or experiments.  Assist in summarizing data as needed.
  • Monitor Sweet Whey compositing and verify that samples match all paperwork prior to sending to Corporate and Customers.
  • Monitor the schedule for delivery of the monthly Corporate Collab samples and arrange for testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
