The Role … The Quality Manager leads the Quality department and its employees, overseeing all activities related to product quality, reliability, and compliance. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that support the company’s manufacturing and development processes. The Quality Manager ensures that all quality processes and standards meet customer expectations and applicable regulatory, industry, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of quality management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant technical field
  • Lead Auditor qualification to NQA-1 strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of nuclear industry standards, including: 10CFR50 Appendix B 10CFR21 ASME NQA-1 ASME BPVC Sections III and VIII
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
  • Ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively across departments
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably fabrication, including: Welding, cutting, electrical, HVAC, testing, and vendor oversight
  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Prior ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • On-site position at our Batavia, OH facility
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% annually

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and the Quality Management Systems (QMS) in accordance with applicable regulatory, industry, and organizational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry regulations, including nuclear quality requirements and applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide ownership and oversight of all Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes across the organization.
  • Lead Quality Control functions, including incoming material inspection, fabrication and welding oversight, NDE/NDT activities, dimensional verification, and product testing.
  • Direct shop‑floor quality operations, including inspection planning, hold‑point management, test execution, and complete quality documentation throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with welding quality requirements, including welding procedures, welder qualifications, and welded assembly inspections.
  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure components and assemblies meet design and code requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the inspection team through daily guidance, performance support, and technical mentorship.
  • Communicate quality standards and expectations across Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and maintain processes to ensure products meet required quality, functional, safety, and reliability specifications.
  • Ensure proper material traceability, inspection records, and manufacturing documentation in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Plan, review, and approve First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure compliance with production hold points and critical inspection milestones.
  • Identify and analyze defects, quality trends, and process issues; implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the creation, investigation, and closure of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs), including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Manage customer quality expectations and respond to customer quality concerns, nonconformances, and corrective action requests.
  • Oversee compliance with NQA-1, ISO 9001, and Controlled Goods requirements.
  • Lead regulatory and certification audits, including NQA-1, ASME, ISO, and others.
  • Conduct internal audits and maintain readiness for external, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Oversee supplier and vendor quality programs, including qualification, surveillance, inspection coordination, and documentation review.
  • Ensure proper calibration and control of inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
  • Coordinate and participate in product testing, validation, and acceptance activities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, quality awareness, and regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
