About The Position

Quality & Patient Safety Coordinator Status: Full-Time Location: Afton, WY Reports to: VP of Quality & Patient Safety Star Valley Health is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and mission-driven Quality & Patient Safety Coordinator to support clinical excellence across our organization. This full-time, fully benefited position plays a key role in strengthening patient safety, enhancing the patient/family experience, and supporting quality initiatives throughout our critical access hospital. This role conducts daily monitoring, data evaluation, event management, and service recovery efforts while upholding Star Valley Health’s mission, vision, and values. This is an “at-will” position.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or comparable clinical license
  • Midas software experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic statistical concepts
  • Ability to develop action plans and make sound decisions
  • Ability to train and support others on quality processes
  • Ability to work in an office setting, lift up to 20 lbs, and walk moderate distances
  • Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (occasional extended hours/weekends)
  • Travel: 5%–10%

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting organizational quality, patient safety, regulatory, or performance improvement initiatives
  • Experience conducting audits to support regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of critical access hospital, ACO, long-term care, or related regulatory requirements
  • IT and programming experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Patient Safety Event Management
  • Promote a culture of safety through transparency and non-punitive reporting.
  • Collect, evaluate, and analyze patient safety events through interviews, chart review, and environmental assessment.
  • Partner with leaders to identify contributing factors and implement corrective actions; follow up on effectiveness.
  • Maintain confidentiality and objectivity during investigations.
  • Patient Concerns & Service Recovery
  • Respond to patient concerns and grievances promptly and empathetically.
  • Provide service recovery, including explanations, apologies, and solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Quality & Patient Safety Program Support
  • Support departmental projects and reporting measures.
  • Assist in improving quality and patient safety processes across the organization.
  • Train staff on data, workflows, and process expectations as needed.
  • Quality Software System (Midas) Management
  • Monitor system performance and configurations to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Manage user access, workflows, data maintenance, interface connections, reports, and scorecards.
  • Build and maintain focus studies and harvest files.
  • Educate directors and staff on system functionality and use.
  • Data Management & Reporting
  • Review patient charts and documents to validate and enter data.
  • Identify discrepancies and develop processes to ensure data accuracy.
  • Generate reports within the EMR to support providers, leaders, and administrators.
  • Maintain program documentation and compliance records.
  • Regulatory & Additional Duties
  • Assist in preparing regulatory documents and audit materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
