About The Position

A leading aerospace manufacturing facility is seeking a Quality Systems & Compliance Manager to oversee and strengthen site-wide quality operations. This role requires an experienced leader with a strong background in QMS ownership, AS9100 compliance, audit preparation, and hands-on quality governance within an aerospace or comparable automotive manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a proven track record developing quality teams, partnering with customers and regulatory bodies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that reduce COPQ and enhance product integrity. This is an on-site leadership role supporting a highly technical, fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • OR
  • Advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior AS9100 quality management experience
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and align quality initiatives with business goals
  • Proven leadership experience with a focus on growth, coaching, and development
  • Ability to interpret system and contractual requirements into quality documentation
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in root cause and preventive methodologies
  • Experience generating/reviewing/approving AS9102 FAI reports
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience achieving or maintaining NADCAP accreditation (brazing, heat treat, paint, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SOW reviews, SCARs, Q‑Notes, STAMP, and Purchase Order Quality Requirements
  • Experience leading Six Sigma, Lean, or similar improvement initiatives
  • Work transfer experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and develop the quality organization to ensure strong performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, and reward decisions.
  • Guide teams through operational changes and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained, aligned with safety/environmental standards, and aware of organizational goals.
  • Maintain and enhance QMS documentation, including procedures, inspection criteria, and work instructions.
  • Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and track QMS effectiveness through metrics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during customer or regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Lead preparation efforts and ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Oversee compliance and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure program proposals and estimates reflect accurate quality requirements and planning.
  • Present department metrics, recovery plans, and quality performance updates as needed.
  • Manage customer escapes, lead root cause investigations, and support resolution of mission assurance-related concerns.
  • Conduct and lead root cause analysis using CORE, Lean, and other structured problem‑solving methods.
  • Implement corrective/preventive actions to improve product quality, throughput, and delivery performance.
  • Lead improvement projects focused on enhancing product quality and reducing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Develop and execute quality improvement plans aimed at reducing escapes and strengthening end-to-end process integrity.
