About The Position

This role involves overseeing and enhancing all quality management processes on an ongoing basis. Responsibilities include applying sound laboratory practices, efficiently managing lab equipment assets, coaching and training lab technicians, and supporting plant process improvements as well as implementing and training staff on new analytical methods.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemistry or related science field or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum five years’ experience working in a quality related department of a manufacturing environment, preferably chemical manufacturing.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Successful record of problem solving through analytical and creative thinking skills.
  • Understand and have contributed in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Competency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Due to safety sensitive nature of job, must pass regular & routine chemical dependency test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Good Laboratory Practice.
  • Proven skills in SPC, SQC, ISO 9001, TQM and/or other quality management techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accuracy, functionality & use of analytical equipment, including the management & verification of all internal & external PM’s & any associated contracts or paperwork. Completion of required tasks verified via auditing or routine verification.
  • Evaluate precision and accuracy of analytical results through our internal round robin program.
  • Prepare for & participate in all internal & external audits, as applicable, & may include audits for the Quality Management Systems & Responsible Care Management Systems, products, and processes.
  • Ensure our QMS documents are accurate & updated when needed.
  • Execute all scheduled training regarding instrument preventative maintenance & assist where needed for lab technician & operator quality training while verifying completion.
  • Manage the purchase of lab reagents & supplies including ensuring the reagent coa’s are obtained & archived & updated SDS’s are in Qpulse for each chemical.
  • Update & maintain all lab specific supplier certifications, including ISO but not limited to.
  • Provide samples as requested & package & ship sample requests.
  • Make lab scale samples when needed and/or conduct lab scale studies for plant quality improvement.
  • Responsible for maintaining Synergy as a statistical tool for the plant.
  • Identify and implement changes for overall product improvements, to include reducing/eliminating non-conforming product, product adjustments/batch time, and product traceability.
  • Responsible for coordination with other Pilot functions in areas of product development, new product trials, and resolution of plant production problems related to quality.
  • Assist with determining a disposition for non-conforming product, collect data for customer complaint investigations, & participate in First Pass Quality improvements.
  • Provide training for plant employees that have a direct impact on quality through content development and delivery via LMS and classroom.
  • Identify areas of improvement for the plant microbial program, develop and maintain a detailed written process, implement employee awareness & training, and initiate improvement projects as necessary.
