We are currently looking for a full-time Quality Technician to support 3rd shift production at our Lenexa plant. Essential to TC Transcontinental Packaging operations, the Quality Tech’s responsibilities of this position include oversight and performance of testing for quality and food safety compliance. This is an 8-hour 3rd shift position, Sunday-Thursday, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am

Requirements

  • Detail oriented
  • Able to perform mathematical equations and conversions, read and understand measurements on a tape measure
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong organizational skills, ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word) and ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with an aptitude to quickly absorb new procedures and new industry advancements.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • Ability to adapt and react quickly in a fast paced environment.
  • Must follow written Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), follow Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs applicable to the position, and perform various cleaning and inspection duties to maintain SQF and food safety compliance as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with production and manufacturing to identify quality issues, be prepared to decide if something should be quarantined based on customer history, production capability, and severity of defect.
  • Inspect customer complaints and returns as received to provide appropriate disposition.
  • Perform required lab testing, such as coefficient of friction (COF), tensile, bond strength, tear, etc. and prepare graphs, charts, and reports for communication to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain quality record for all completed testing.
  • Preparation of customer Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Certificate of Conformance (COC) reports as required.
  • Trend and evaluate testing data to develop recommendations for improvement and report any out of specification situations.
  • Assist production machine operators with quality issues, raw material defectives, and testing problems as they arise.
