About The Position

Cooper Standard’s Livonia Manufacturing Plant is looking to hire a Quality Technician to support production quality on the manufacturing floor. In this role, you’ll help ensure products meet customer and print specifications by performing inspections, monitoring quality processes, and supporting audit activities. You’ll work directly with production teams to keep quality standards high and resolve issues quickly. The Quality Technician is responsible to monitor quality for all production activities and auditing functions including instruction and guidance to Team Leaders and direct Operators.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two year College or applicable Technical Training and Certification is preferred
  • Two years’ experience in quality, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Ability to read and understand customer product blue prints
  • Knowledge of calibration technique for micrometers and calipers, including linkage to core tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willngness and ability to travel, as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Monitors inspection activities on the production floor
  • Monitors auditing activities for compliance to print and customer requirements
  • Monitors and reviews statistical charts for accuracy and reactions
  • Reviews control plans for completeness to print and customer requirements
  • Provides guidance and instruction to Team Leaders and direct Operators regarding inspection and quality activities
  • Insures the correct documentation is available and in use throughout the production environment
  • Insures that correct gauges are in use and properly maintained, in addition to the calibration of the micrometers and calipers utilizing certified test equipment
  • Maintains necessary records and reports as per the customer or company specific procedures
  • Reviews quality documentation including statistical evidence and product certification for incoming materials
  • Actively participates in problem solving activities for the customer and suppliers
  • Participates in and performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) per plan
  • Ensures Housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are maintained
  • Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as TS 16949 and ISO 14001
  • Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
