We are seeking a skilled Analyst to act as the technical execution engine for a complex financial model validation project.

Requirements

  • Advanced Excel Proficiency Must be an Excel power user with the ability to read, trace, and debug VBA, macros, and complex nested formulas. Able to audit spreadsheets with a closed system, reverse engineer calculations, and clearly understand the economic reasoning and math driving the models.
  • Python Proficiency Demonstrated ability to build structured, modular calculation engines and data processing scripts that translate complex spreadsheet logic into scalable code. Capable of implementing high precision financial calculations and automating sophisticated validation routines.
  • Financial Domain Knowledge in Lending Deep understanding of amortization and loan mechanics, with an intuitive grasp of how interest accrues, how principal is reduced, and how payment schedules are structured, adjusted, and validated.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced Excel Forensic Review Deconstruct highly sophisticated third-party Excel models by tracing and deciphering intricate logic, including VBA macros, deeply nested formulas, and iterative calculation loops. Able to uncover how interest and payment calculations are constructed, even when the methodology is embedded within layered or opaque spreadsheet structures.
  • Python Implementation Translate financial logic and requirements into robust, well-structured Python scripts. Build independent calculation engines capable of generating accurate amortization schedules and detailed cash flow outputs while maintaining scalability and code transparency.
  • Reconciliation and Variance Analysis Complete side-by-side comparisons between Python-generated outputs and existing Excel models using sample datasets. Investigate variances down to the penny, identifying whether discrepancies stem from data inconsistencies, coding errors, or nuanced calculation logic embedded within Excel formulas or macros.
