About The Position

MSCI is looking for an exceptional individual to join the Private Assets Index Research & Development team. The team is part of MSCI's Global Research and Development team and focuses on conducting proprietary research and strategic product development to address investment problems and support the growth of MSCI's private assets product offerings. The team utilizes various analytical tools and methods to develop new index/product methodologies in private capital and real assets, analyze alternative data sets, and integrate them into MSCI products. The group collaborates closely with other teams within Research and Development and across the firm to execute the research roadmap.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in research, product development, investment strategy, or a related role within asset management or financial services.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, practical insights for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Working knowledge of R or Python, with the ability to independently analyze datasets and prototype analytical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of financial data best practices and the private markets investment landscape.

  • Experience in private assets (private equity, private credit, private real assets) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and enhancement of private asset index methodologies and analytical tools, combining rigorous analysis with practical investment insight.
  • Translate research and data analysis into clear, actionable insights that address client investment challenges across private equity, private credit, and real assets.
  • Partner with Product and Commercial teams to align research priorities with evolving market trends and client needs.
  • Present research findings and product innovations to senior internal stakeholders and institutional clients.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand objectives, provide analytical support, and identify opportunities to enhance MSCI’s private asset offerings.
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including research publications and client-facing materials.
