About The Position

This is a challenging Division-level support role requiring an experienced, self-motivated, and results-oriented individual capable of managing multiple concurrent projects. As an active member of the Operational Excellence department, the core function is to enhance pit through primary efficiencies across our operations by strategically leveraging information and resources among key teams: local operations, mine planning, geology, drilling and blasting, mobile equipment, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of hard rock drilling and blasting operations with experience working and managing pit haulage operations.
  • Knowledge of mine planning and pit development - including face, floor and haulage road management
  • Understanding of organizational culture dynamics and how they impact change efforts. Ability to promote cultural alignment and shift when necessary.
  • Skills in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the organization. Ability to influence and gain support for change initiatives.
  • Capability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority, inspire trust and drive change through collaboration and persuasion.
  • Formal and informal training and coaching ability

Nice To Haves

  • B.S or Associates Degree in Mining Engineering/related field preferred but not required.
  • 3 - 5 years in the industry with direct pit management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive overall cost performance, alignment of direction and performance efficiencies across multiple sites by collaborating with various teams—including mine planning, drilling and blasting, geology, operations, mobile equipment training / utilization and operations excellence.
  • Optimize the utilization and operation of mobile equipment by monitoring and evaluating fleet performance to achieve critical plant product capacity targets.
  • Develop, train, and coach pit and primary crews and their supervisors to incorporate operational performance data and real-time visualizations of key performance indicators (KPIs) into daily decision-making.
  • Review, evaluate and support in field plant processing performance, historian data and plant performance models to identify opportunities for operational improvement, potential plant changes and implementation of new practices or systems.
  • Be present - Visit and interact with production facilities across the division building relationships and knowledge of our day to day operations. 50-75%25 of time spent in the field.
