About This Role The NA Technical Service and Development (TS&D) group has an exciting opportunity for a P&SP Technician located at Pack Studios in Freeport, Texas. The TS&D group supports 7.0 Billion lb/yr of product sales. In this role you will provide support to other Dow Technologists, Lead Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of experimental activities. In this role you will be expected to achieve project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience. This may also include the need to introduce new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment. Provides a variety of basic technical support to Lead Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of experimental activities. Acts as primary focal point for technical support of a process, program, product, or application within the work group and for internal/external clients and customers. Provides technical support for product development, application development, technical service, and/or product or process research. Achieves project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience, and introduces new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment. In this role, you will develop full proficiency in a range of technical processes and procedures through job-related training and on-the-job experience. You will need to be able to apply knowledge of technical processes and procedures to perform a range of work assignments. You need to understand how multiple teams coordinate efforts and resources to achieve objectives and be able to explain complex technical information to members of your own team and other teams.

Requirements

A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent AND 3+ years of laboratory or manufacturing experience OR A minimum associates degree in Process Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or similar technology related area is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Laboratory Instrumentation: Ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring accurate measurements and reliable performance.
Laboratory Safety: Knowledge and application of safety protocols, hazard identification, and compliance with regulatory standards to maintain a safe working environment.
Analytical Thinking: Capacity to evaluate complex problems, interpret data, and select solutions based on established procedures and scientific reasoning.
Technical Communication: Ability to clearly convey technical information, observations, and data through reports, charts, and verbal updates to scientists and team members.
Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Skill in structuring tasks, managing time, and prioritizing activities to meet project goals efficiently.

Responsibilities

Handles complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks including complex methods and procedures and recommends variations in problem approach with little or no supervision
Holds essential know-how on safe operation of experimentation and on stewardship process, and implements these to Dow standard
Independently develops and implements experimental plans and acts responsible for a wide variety of complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks requiring complex approaches and procedures
Uses knowledge of the relevant technology consisting of product, test method, and testing equipment to quickly screen alternative approaches and recommends and implements variations in approaches
Understands the group objectives and the business or group's value creating strategy and is an important contributor to the technical solutions that result in project and team success
Trains other work group members and contractors on specific work processes, equipment, and machinery
Defines and implements new testing methods for development purposes which may require creating unique configurations of existing equipment or development/fabrication of new equipment and systems
Identifies the need for and is involved in implementing new processes, procedures or technology to improve performance of work group
Understand the reason for the new technology and understand the fundamentals of the science so that the conceptual design can become reality and develop practical alternatives
Leverage practical experience and obtain quotes develop and refine cost estimates based off project scope
Manage input and design changes to make sure the project meets the experimental design and is functional for operators
