Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practice and procedures of NRC, DOE or OSHA regulations.
  • Good communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and receives radioactive material shipments.
  • Prepare Radiation Work Permits or Job Permits.
  • Ensure that monitored activities are performed in accordance with the ALARA philosophy and procedures.
  • Generate thorough, accurate and timely radiological survey and analysis documents.
  • Select, test and operate surveillance instrumentation correctly.
  • Post and control various areas requiring radiological controls correctly.
  • Monitor the transfer of material, equipment and personnel across radiological control boundaries.
  • Survey and assess areas in respect to dose rates and contamination levels.
  • Report deficiencies in accordance with procedure.
  • Conduct audits in accordance with procedure including Criticality safety and Industrial safety.
  • Carry out directions of Radiation Monitoring Team Captain in the event of a radiological emergency or drill.
  • Solve math problems involving algebra and the natural log function.
  • Perform environmental sampling for analysis.
  • Perform personnel decontamination.
  • Monitor and maintain the internal and external dose program.
