RSC2 is currently looking for a Senior Radio and Network Engineer to join our growing team in Aberdeen, MD! The Senior Radio and Network Engineer will support development and implementation of a radio comm plan, configuration of radio devices, and radio troubleshooting. They must be willing to travel in support of Developmental, Operational, and/or Contractor testing, Communication Exercises, and System fielding’s for PM EW&C.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or related scientific or technical discipline. Five (5) additional years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively more complex experience in network design, development, and documentation.
  • RF and Antenna Theory
  • Waveform (SINCGARS, TSM (to include knowing the difference between, TSM, WREN SBU, WREN SBU-E, WREN SAB, WREN NB), VULOS, TACSAT (181, 182, 183, 183A), MUOS, Silvus, Wave Relay.
  • COMSEC. Local element training (handling and paperwork). SKL operations. Loading radios.
  • Loadset theory. Creating loadset on ACES app.
  • Mission plan creation, publishing, downloading, and radio loading. This includes Trellis Preset Tool Management, Atom, Harris Communications
  • Planning Tool, using the GUI for Silvus and Wave Relay.
  • Setting up NCW satellite apertures, antenna and modem.
  • Basic networking (TCP/IP, UDP, unicast, multicast, etc)
  • Subnetting.
  • Basic understanding of switches and routers.
  • Creating and working with virtual machines.
  • SSH into networking appliances.
  • SSH into instrumentation devices for data capture.
  • Basic Wireshark techniques.
  • System of system integration.
  • MUOS workshop to order profiles and receive them to ingest into Atom and key management.
  • Basic radio operator procedures (voice) and how to raise a net (this is different from waveform to waveform).
  • Data communications procedures and how to join a network (this is different from waveform to waveform).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, configure, and employ tactical RF communications systems across multiple waveforms (SINCGARS, TSM variants, VULOS, TACSAT, MUOS, Silvus, Wave Relay).
  • Design antenna solutions and RF configurations appropriate to mission requirements and terrain.
  • Create, manage, and distribute radio loadsets using ACES and related planning tools.
  • Develop mission communications plans and translate them into executable radio configurations.
  • Build, publish, download, and load presets using tools such as Trellis, Atom, and Harris Communications software.
  • Configure and manage MANET and mesh networks using Silvus and Wave Relay GUIs.
  • Establish and operate NCW satellite links, including antenna setup, modem configuration, and aperture management.
  • Perform COMSEC duties, including key handling, documentation, SKL operations, and radio fills.
  • Coordinate MUOS profile requests, ingestion into Atom, and associated key management activities.
  • Integrate radios, networking equipment, satellites, and mission systems into a coherent system-of-systems.
  • Configure IP-based networks, including subnetting, multicast/unicast traffic, and basic routing/switching.
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines to support mission systems and test environments.
  • Access and manage network and instrumentation devices via SSH for configuration and data capture.
  • Capture and analyze network traffic using basic Wireshark techniques for troubleshooting and validation.
  • Execute and supervise voice and data radio procedures, including net establishment and network joins across waveforms.
  • Troubleshoot RF, waveform, networking, and integration issues during planning, setup, and operations.
  • Train and support local personnel on COMSEC handling, radio operations, and system employment
