About The Position

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Rail Car Mover to work at our Edw. C. Levy Ohio location in Canton, OH . The Rail Car Mover operates a locomotive, both manually and automatically, for the purpose of positioning rail cars to facilitate loading and unloading scrap. Also operates rail switches. Pay: $29.06 Shift: Varies

Requirements

Ability to operate remote locomotive
Knowledge of materials
Basic mechanical aptitude
Ability to identify physical qualities of radioactive material
Knowledge of process for handling radioactive material
Customer service skills
Communication skills
Knowledge of appropriate and ability to follow safety procedures
Ability to read and write
Basic math skills

Responsibilities

Operate joystick to regulate train speed and braking
Performing daily locomotive inspection and routine greasing, oiling and fueling
Monitoring any change in machine performance to identify potential malfunctions
Reporting any equipment malfunctions
Maintaining cleanliness of equipment
Assisting maintenance personnel with repairs
Operating radio communication device
Utilizing locomotive to position rail cars
Complying with weight limits when loading rail cars
Ensuring that rail cars are loaded with the appropriate scrap products
Identifying physical properties of scrap
Operating remote locomotive
Operating rail switches
Connecting and disconnecting rail cars
Assisting with the direction of traffic flow in the scrap yard
Meeting customer service expectations
Complying with all safety regulations and policies
Record keeping
Performing other tasks as assigned by supervisor
