In addition to performing all duties of R&R Instructor, incumbents provide on the job guidance to Classroom Instructors, and/or Top Gun Facilitators and/or Range & Road Instructors. Assist Academy Leader as requested and fill in as needed. Perform all duties of a Range & Road Instructor and/or Classroom Instructors and/or Top Gun Facilitators and fill in as needed. Provide extra one-on-one training/tutoring for at risk students. Engage in on going education relating to teaching skills as part of faculty improvement to maintain post-secondary Education requirements of the state the Academy is licensed in. Periodically review training material and as needed, conduct training courses to ensure all instructors are following best practices. As directed, complete CVTA modules annually. May instruct new CDL holders in driving techniques with the use of tractor simulations that replicate over the road training and backing. May work closely with Top Gun leadership to develop additional simulator content and suggest improvements. Resolve escalated student issues. Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years OTR experience required unless state law requires additional years of experience.
  • Previous experience as a company instructor required.
  • Must qualify as a Class A CDL driver by meeting all company hiring requirements.
  • Must have appropriate state certification as a CDL Examiner if tasked with administering exams.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle changing priorities.
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills.
  • Must engage in on going education relating to teaching skills as part of faculty improvement to maintain post-secondary education requirements of the state in which the Academy is licensed.
  • Must maintain Professional Truck driver Institute (PTDI) and Commercial Vehicle Training Association (CVTA) standards and complete a minimum of two American Association for Vocational School modules annually.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • As required, must be able to obtain additional endorsements within 90 days of notification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a third party tester or a CVTA Master Level Instructor preferred.
  • Associates preferred.
