About The Position

The Department of Community Health is seeking one (1) PART - TIME General Dentists for a faculty position at the rank of RBHS Instructor/Assistant Professor, Non-Tenure Track at the Extramural Clinics in Northfield/Somerdale, NJ (Atlantic/Camden County) at the RSDM University Dental Centers. The candidate will have a 0.20 FTE – 0.40 FTE commitment. This faculty member in the Department of Community Health provides support for students, assure timely care for the patients, serve as a nucleus for interdepartmental faculty communication and provide all phases of patient care as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of patient care and ensuring proper post-treatment management, including recare
  • Ensure that the standards, policies and procedures of RSDM , as outlined in the Clinic Manual, Radiation Hazard, Infection Control, Patient’s Bill of Rights, and RSDM Confidentiality policies, and Quality Assurance protocols are followed at the sites.
  • Supervise and instruct students in their respective disciplines, by demonstration when required
  • Review the records of patients who treatment has been documented as completed
  • Review patient records prior to termination of patient treatment. Authorization is documented in the consultation section of the patient’s record
  • Ensure, with site faculty, that RSDM standards for the education of students are maintained
  • Conduct small group discussions with students when possible
  • Participate in CODE faculty standardization and calibration
  • Perform evaluation of students’ competencies.
  • Assists in quality and quantity review for all dental personnel when requested.
  • Remains current in the field of dentistry on a level applicable to the title.
  • Accomplishes dentistry using pharmacological adjuncts depending on individual circumstances and dentist qualifications.
  • Consults with the medical staff in cases showing oral manifestations of medical conditions.
  • Is available for consultation by the medical staff in cases of oral pathology and other related conditions of common interest.
  • Arranges program and treatment for patients experiencing oral trauma, oral pain, oral infection and other pathology.
  • Assists in conducting program of preventive dentistry, dental education and oral hygiene.
  • Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth, gingiva, mucosa, and related oral structures with reasonable patient acceptable sensitivity.
  • Cleans, restores, extracts and replaces teeth using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications and surgical instruments.
  • Administers local anesthesia and other supportive medication.
  • Keeps such records and reports as are necessary for the discharge and control of his/her patients.
  • Serves on call, administratively, operationally and clinically and handles dental emergencies.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
