The purpose of this position is to teach content focused on improving basic skills in core reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics areas through individual, small group, and whole class instruction, providing targeted remediation and enrichment as needed. The intent of this position is to deliver direct remedial instruction to offenders aged 18 to 22 to support their attainment of a high school equivalency diploma. This position will be a main point of contact providing support and instruction in core academic areas to students in pursuit of attaining a high school equivalency diploma. This position is located within the academic school at Richmond Correctional Institution, Hoffman, NC (Richmond County). Reporting to the School Principal, the Reading and Math Interventionist is a core member of the academic team responsible for implementing and monitoring the school’s vision, mission, values, and goals. The teacher must be skilled at organizing and delivering education curricula to groups of students of all ages, creating a flexible program and a learning environment that supports each student’s abilities and personal growth within a medium custody male correctional facility. The teacher will also perform any additional duties assigned by the principal.
