About The Position

The Phone Room Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient triaging of patient needs. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming and professional experience when patients call Southern Bone and Joint, P.A. The receptionist handles appointment scheduling, directs patients to the appropriate staff and/or department, and answers general inquiries. The role requires effective communication and organizational skills. Additionally, the receptionist maintains documentation of phone calls in patient records while managing phone calls with a courteous and empathetic approach. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and operational efficiency of the clinic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with a telephone system and reception position, preferably in a healthcare or clinical setting.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and other healthcare privacy regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to physical therapy and rehabilitation services.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients promptly and professionally upon answering phone.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members as needed.
  • Verify patient information and collect necessary information to direct patient effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
  • Handle billing inquiries and assist patients with insurance verification and payment processing when applicable.
